Getting to Peral
We have prepared a one-page set of directions in both English and Portuguese
which you can download and print. The
following information is much more detailed, and it will take you longer to
memorise these directions than to get here! But we aim to please. You can also
look at the directions to the
Bar-Bistro CIG across the street.
First
of all, you have to know where it is. Click on the thumbnail to the left
to see a map of the area - Peral is north of Olhão and to the northeast
of Faro, not far from the airport (half an hour or so).
Once
you are in the area, this map will show you where Peral is. If you are familiar
with the roads, you should be able to figure out how to get to Peral from the
highway, from Faro, Olhão, Estoi, S. Brás, Mongolia, and the North Pole. But
just in case you would like more detailed instructions, please check below.
Here are
detailed directions on getting to Peral from several starting points. If you click
on the link you will bring up a map showing the last part of the route in the
vicinity of S. Brás. The numbers in [square brackets] refer to points on this
map.
- From Faro Airport [1]. Take the highway out of the airport until you come
to route N2 which goes north to S. Brás. Then follow the directions (below)
from Faro, #2.
- From Faro [1]. Take N2 north towards S. Brás.
From point follow N2 to the roundabout [2] just before S. Brás (there is a Total service
station on the left). Take the first exit from the roundabout towards
Tavira. At the next roundabout [3] go right again towards Moncarapacho. After
2.6 kilometers you come to an intersection with a café and a shop called
Porta Verde, with a sign pointing right to Peral [4]. Turn right, pass
between the shop and the café, and in one kilometer the road bears right and there is a long white building right
in front of you - that is our house [5].
- From Lisbon (Lisboa) or anywhere north of the Algarve. Take the A2 toll
road south to the end and turn east (left) on the A22 highway. Then ...
- From the A22 highway (the Via do Infante) take exit 14 and turn left
onto route N2 which goes north to S. Brás. Then follow the directions
(above) from Faro, #2.
- From São Brás de Alportel (usually
abreviated S. Brás or SBA, and sometimes spelled S. Bráz), as you leave town
towards the east (the direction of Tavira) you will see a sign pointing to
Peral which takes you to the roundabout [3]. Go straight in the direction of
Moncarapacho. After 2.6 kilometers you come to an intersection with a
café and a shop called Porta Verde, with a sign pointing right to Peral [4]. Turn right,
going between the shop and the café, and in one kilometer the road bears right and there is a long white building right
in front of you - that is our house [5]. If you miss the first sign there is another
[6] 1.8 km past the roundabut [7]. Follow the signs and in another 1.8 km you come to the intersection with the café on one
corner and a shop called Porta Verde on another [4]. Continue across the
intersection passing between the shop and the café towards Peral and in one kilometer the road bears right
and there is a long white building right in front of you - that is our house
[5]. In front of our house there are signs pointing to the Quinta do Peral
and to Bistro CIG.
Click here to recognise the house. And if you
pass a sign saying that you have left the Concelho de São Brás you have gone
past it. Note that our house has a plaque of azulejos on the side identifying it
as O Baile do Peral.
If you are coming the back way from Estoi then shortly after you leave the
Concelho de Faro and enter the Concelho de São Brás de Alportel there is a road
to your right, and our house is right there on the corner [5]. There are
are also signs pointing to the Quinta do Peral and to Bistro CIG in that
direction as well.
Parking
Once you get to our house you have several parking options. There is room for
one car in front ot the house, but since it is a blind corner we do not
recommend leaving your car there unless you are delivering something. If you go
around the house there is room for several cars on the street. However there is
a café across the street from our house which we own, the
Bar-Bistro CIG, so you can
park there, and if you are coming to a party or other event for which there may
be many visitors, that is the best place to park.
